Do NOT purchase any books on Domestic Violence until read this!!!

Do you know someone who has witnessed domestic violence? Are you a survivor of domestic violence? Are you an adult child who witnessed domestic violence? Are you currently witnessing domestic violence in your home? Personally, I want you to know you are not alone. Unfortunately, there are not many domestic violence books written. There are even fewer domestic violence books written from the childrens perspective.

  • Nearly one-third of American women will be abused by an intimate partner at some point in their lives?
  • Each day, four women are murdered by husbands or boyfriends.
  • Between 3.3 and 10 Million children witness domestic violence annually.
  • Children who witness abuse are at high risk for alcohol and drug use, depression, running away, violent behavior and suicide.

Based on my personal study, experience, and family history, I have come to the conclusion domestic violence for the most part is generational and usually cyclical. Generational meaning it is usually passed down from one generation to the next generation. It does not discriminate between social and economic classes. Cyclical meaning it takes place in patterns and cycles. The abuser usually takes its victims through good times as well as time frames or episodes of abuse. For the most part it does not discriminate between races, with one exception the African American race. African American women experience domestic violence at nearly a 35 percent higher rate than other ethnic groups.

Most perpetrators of abuse have either been victims of physical abuse themselves or witnessed domestic violence as children.
